Happy birthday girls. I hope your day was lots of fun. Did Grant find you something neat when he went to the garage sales with Paw-Paw?

News from North Dakota
I haven't posted anything in a while, mainly because we've been super busy. We're settling in to a routine with Mom and Buzz as they are with us! Things are going great! We are still (I stress STILL) in contract on our house, but we are waiting on the appraisal and that takes time. Too much time, but we are getting there...SLOWLY!
The kids are good. Nick and Madison are learning to play the guitar and seem to really like it.
Buster has news: He's got a new job! We have made friends with our neighbors and a group of them are bosses for a Well Testing Service and we really like them a lot. We had a cook out a couple of weeks ago and they were all sitting around and talking. They offered him a job. He asked me and I told him it was ok as long as my conditions were met. (LOL) So, he is in Texas tonight and will be there til Thursday doing his training at the main office and after he gets home, he'll begin work as a operator at Well Testing Service. This position not only gives him better earning potential, it gives his badly damaged wrist a break. He's been in more pain than I knew of since his injury and his former job was just too hard on him. Now, he won't have that and he'll be happier. He's getting a company truck, a phone and a laptop, so I get the awesome big black truck and Mom and use my little red truck until she finds a car or Nick gets a permit. LOL!

JUNE LANKFORD
Prissy Cusenbary's grandmother passed away and her service will be Monday. June Lankford was a really sweet gal - she worked at the PD when Melton was an officer. I guess I've known her as long as I can remember. We all send our love to Prissy and all her extended family - June was very special and we'll never forget her. God's blessing on all of you. Love, Jody & Keri & Floyd

Special Days, Part IIJody beat me to the punch! I had already selected these pics from the treasures that Jody gave to me before her big move, but alas, I needed both of my guys' assistance in order to post them! (Paul is always saying, "What would you do without me to help you with your technology problems?" My answer is, "Why do you think we had you?").
I remember Lala doing her song and dance while she fixed herself a salad for Friday night supper (this was in the house on 4th Street while she was still working): "It's Friday! It's Friday!" And on Saturdays while I visited we would listen to records and go through books, and she would review the Sunday school lesson she was to teach to her class of young girls the next morning.
When Granny wasn't creating her culinary masterpieces in the kitchen (and let's agree, anything she cooked was a mouth-watering masterpiece; can you say, "homemade fried chicken"?), she was sitting in her rocking chair in the living room, working a crossword puzzle while she watched baseball or football or golf. She used to tell me that she liked to watch golf because she could doze off and when she awakened, she felt that she hadn't missed very much!
They were two very wonderful ladies, and I am so blessed to be a part of their family.

SPECIAL DAYS
Monday and Wednesday are very special days to me and to all of you. Lala's birthday is Aug 2 and Granny's is Aug. 4. They are 2 of the 5 most important women in my life - the others being, Moma, Aunt Bula and my Keri. Lala was such a sweetie, such a "lady" in all the words. I know we all giggled at her at times but we wouldn't have changed her for the world. And what on earth can I say about my Granny (aka, Aunt Fay, Moma Cush, Cushen) that no one knows - nothing I can think of -- she was just the perfect "Granny" ever -- I think that is why Moma was such a perfect "Nana", 'cause she had such a role model!! Granny loved her DALLAS COWBOYS and her TEXAS RANGERS and loved to watch golf. They will probably have some of Aunt Margaret's Angelfood cake and Granddaddy & Uncle Dan , I'm sure, will be turning the ice cream freezer and our Stephanie will be sitting on the freezer. And Jay E, being the newest one up there, will be telling some story, I bet. It doesn't hurt so much when you can think of they're being gone like this - being with each other and someday we'll all be there too. How wonderful!! I love all of you so much!! Jody
